- help catching bluegill.
i want to know how to catch bluegill and wat luers can i use for bluegill.

A Young bluegills feed on plankton, but as they grow the diet shifts to aquatic insects and their larvae. Up to 50% of their diet may consist of midge larvae. It's lots of fun catching bluegills on a fly fishing rod. You can try a fuzzy lure that looks like an insect larvae. If you go early in the morning, the bluegills congregrate near the surface of the water. This is prime time for lures that floats, like flies, spiders, ants, small crickets, etc. Later in the morning and afternoons, they swim lower and are easily spooked. When going after them at these instances, a woolly worm or a size 12 nymph or small streamer slightly above the level where they are swimming is ideal.
